It is the dried fruit of the plant which we call as Cardamom (Refer image above), and the main constituent with Ayurvedic properties are the seed which are found in these pods.

#1 Bad Breath:

Cardamom is very aromatic and hence is extensively used as a breath freshener.

Take a few Cardamom seeds (2-3) from the pod and chew them to get rid of the foul smell.

 

#2 In Curing Cough:

Cardamom is extremely effective in curing various types of cough.

Regular Cough:

Grind ½ a tspn of Cardamom seeds, mix it with 1 tbspn of Honey and consume it every 3 hrs to cure regular cough.

Cough with Throat Irritation:

Grind ½ a tspn of Cardamom seeds, mix them with 2 tspns of Ghee (clarified butter) and 1 tspn of Powdered Sugar. Consume it 3 times a day to cure the cough.

Dry Cough:

Grind ½ a tspn of Cardamom seeds, mix them with 1 tspn of coking oil and 1 tspn of Powdered Sugar. Consume it 3 times a day to cure the cough.

 

#3 In Curing Anemia:

Cardamom is a rich source of Iron, Niacin, Vitamin C and Riboflavin. These elements present in it are essential for the production of red blood cells, thus Cardamom is very effective in curing Anemia.

To make use if this property, you can add a pinch of Cardamom powder to your food while cooking, it will also add a peculiar pleasant flavor to your food.

Drinking Cardamom tea also does the trick.

To prepare Cardamom Tea, boil 1 tspn of Cardamom powder in 1 cup of water for 2-3 minutes, pass this infusion through a sieve or paper filter to remove the powder, add 1 tbspn of Honey to it and consume it. (You can also add 2-3 Mint leaves for flavor if you wish.)

Drinking Cardamom tea twice a day helps in keeping gas problems at bay.

Consuming Cardamom nourishes our digestive system which in turn helps us in avoiding any gas related problems and flatulence.

If you suffer from indigestion,

Mix ½ tspn of Cardamom powder with ¼ a tspn of grated Ginger, ¼ tspn of Clove powder and ¼ tspn of Coriander seed powder. Consume this mixture with 1 cup of warm water. This will reinforce your digestive system and will cure any digestive system related disorders.

Cardamom is very effective in treating various respiratory disorders along with Asthma.

Add 1 tspn of Cardamom seed powder to 1 cup of fresh water and bring it to a boil.

Let it simmer till 1 cup of water is reduced to ½ cup and then gargle with this infusion to cure oral disorders.
